12-26-2011: The Holiday Season at CLI
This year's holiday season has been a busy one in Guilin! With 35 students currently studying at CLI, our holiday events were bustling with teachers and friends alike.
The holiday season kicked off with a traditional celebration of Hanukkah (光明节, Guāngmíngjié). Three of CLI's Israeli students made authentic latkes and lit one candle for each of the holiday's eight nights.
For Christmas (圣诞节, Shèngdànjié), CLI organized an Italian dinner at a local Western restaurant. With 51 international and local friends in attendence, the atmosphere was warm and festive. After dinner, two buses took the crowd to the Shangri-La, Guilin's nicest 5-star hotel, for drinks and conversation.
And for this upcoming New Year's Eve (元旦节, Yuándànjié) celebration, CLI has reserved an entire restaurant for a traditional Xinjiang feast. Over 60 students, teachers and local friends are expected!
