Program Description

  • The focus of the trip will be to genuinely contribute to the lives of Ecuadorians by engaging in at least 25 hours of service activities that address the community’s needs, and deepen students’ understanding of the local culture.

Program Highlights

  • Travel by bus to Otavalo and Hosteria La Luna, a beautiful mountain lodge high in the Andes. On our way, we will pass by the equator monument and stand in both hemispheres. After lunch at La Luna, we will have an orientation meeting, and finish our day together with a short walk to a beautiful waterfall.
  • Engage in reforestation work with the Kichwa Natives in Morochos. Participants live and share meals with their host families. While in Morochos, we will also have the opportunity to learn about medicinal plants, participate in a spiritual cleansing with a Shaman, visit the community Alpaca project, and enjoy traditional Andean music and dance.
  • Ride the Teleférico cable car for amazing views from the top of the Pichincha volcano.
  • Peruse handmade crafts at a famous artesanal market in the Americas.
