Winter in Iceland ’18

Program Highlights

  • Enjoy some of the most spectacular natural landscapes in Iceland!
  • Visit a series of local companies to learn about the strategies Icelandic corporations are implementing to ensure gender parity in all levels of management
  • Explore colorful Old Reykjavik, in the heart of the capital city, with its beautiful central lake, the white-concrete Hallgrimskirkja Church, the iconic Harpa Concert Hall and the Sun Voyager Sculpture on the shore walk.
  • Drive to the Reykjavik countryside to hunt for the dazzling Northern Lights!
  • Visit the University of Iceland to participate in a discussion with a gender issues specialist.
  • Enjoy an up-close look of the Great Geysir, Gullfoss Waterfall and Kerio Volcanic Crater Lake.
  • Scan the frostbitten Icelandic coastline for dolphins, minke and humpback whales!
  • Join a sea tour of breathtaking Breiðafjörður Bay and discover its iconic islands and gain an up-close look of its abundant birdlife.
  • Learn about the main institutional mechanisms, policies and legal framework aimed at promoting gender equality in all levels of society at the Center for Gender Equality.

  1. Complete CLI’s Student Information Form
    Complete CLI’s Student Info Form by Thursday, October 5, 2017. Be sure to enter information exactly as it appears on your passport. Your program is titled “The Lauder Institute in Iceland”.
  2. Secure your passport
    If you do not have a passport, please apply for one immediately. If you do have a passport, double check that its expiration date is at least six months after the end of your upcoming program. If your passport’s expiration date is within six months of your program end date, please renew your passport as soon as possible.
  3. Complete CLI’s allergies and dietary restrictions form
    Complete our medical allergies and dietary restrictions form upon reading this prompt. It’s important that we have access to information regarding any medical allergies you may have or other medical considerations we should be aware of. Please also use this opportunity to inform us of your dietary restrictions (if any).
  4. Consider learning survival Icelandic
    A great selection of free Icelandic learning resources is available online. Please take time to review and familiarize yourself with the resources available online.
  5. Stay current on important travel information
    Make sure you have thoroughly reviewed health and safety information from both the CDC and the U.S. State Department well in advance of your departure to Iceland. When traveling to any foreign country, it is important that you familiarize yourself with relevant health and safety information.
