Program Fee

  • The program fee for the November 2018 XMNR Alumni IR is 3,750 USD.
  • Travel companions welcomed! The program fee for travel companions of XMNR alumni is 3,250 USD. Please note that travel companions must be over 21 years of age and will not participate in 2-4 alumni-only workshops.
  • Participants who wish to upgrade to a single occupancy room may do so for an additional 930 USD.
  • Alumni and travel companions who submit their deposit on or before January 31, 2018 will receive a 250 USD discount for early enrollment.
  • Space is limited! We recommend enrolling early in order to secure your spot in the 2018 XMNR Alumni IR.

Virginia Tech XMNR Alumni IR To-Do List

IMPORTANT: please read this entire page carefully.

In order to secure your space in the November 2018 Virginia Tech XMNR Alumni IR in Morocco and Dubai, please complete each of the following steps at your earliest convenience. As CLI is an official CLiGS partner and helps manage enrollment and logistical needs for XMNR, please feel free to contact CLI anytime at 888-781-8383 or email our Director of Enrollment at nancy@studycli.org if you have questions regarding the enrollment process.
  1. Complete CLI’s Student Information Form
    Complete CLI’s Student Information Form by Thursday, March 15, 2018. Your Program Country is listed as “Morocco and the UAE” and your Program Name is “XMNR Alumni IR 2018”. Be sure to enter information exactly as it appears on your passport.
  2. Submit your program deposit
    In order to secure your space in the XMNR Alumni IR, please click the link below to submit your 500 USD non-refundable deposit by March 15, 2018. Please note that in order to submit your deposit, you must first complete CLI’s Student Information Form (step 1 above). Please use our secure and convenient online payment system (secured by Stripe) to submit your deposit. If your 500 USD deposit is submitted on or before January 31, 2018, CLI will process an early enrollment refund of 250 USD within three business days.

  3. Complete CLI’s Flight Form
    Please share your international flight information with CLI by completing this international flight form at least one month prior to your programs’ start date.
  4. Submit the first installment of your program balance
    The first installment of your program balance of 1,625 USD (half of the 3,250 USD remaining program fee, which is the 3,750 USD less your 500 USD deposit from step 2 above) is due by June 7, 2018. Please use our secure and convenient online payment system (secured by Stripe) to submit this balance.

  5. (Optional) Submit extra balance for single occupancy accommodations
    If you wish to reserve a private room throughout your stay in Morocco and Dubai, please send a personal check for 930 USD, made out to “CLI”, to 5516 Mountain Garland Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80923 by June 7, 2018.
  6. Secure your passport
    If you do not have a passport, please apply for one immediately. If you do have a passport, double check that its expiration date is at least six months after the end of your upcoming XMNR Alumni IR. If your passport’s expiration date is within six months of your Alumni IR end date, please renew your passport as soon as possible.
  7. Secure your visa
    Passport holders from many countries, including the United States, are not required to obtain a tourist visa in order to entire Morocco and the United Arab Emirates for stays under 90 days and 30 days, respectively. If you do not hold a United States passport, please research Morocco and the UAE’s respective visa policies and obtain a tourist visa as needed. If either country requires that you obtain a tourist visa, you are responsible for finding out this policy, for obtaining your tourist visa(s), and for covering all related costs.
  8. Submit your remaining program balance (see note on travel companions)
    Your remaining program balance of 1,625 USD is due by September 20, 2018. Please use our secure and convenient online payment system (secured by Stripe) to submit this balance. NOTE: if you are submitting payment as/for a travel companion, please email nancy@studycli.org to let her know and CLI will refund 500 USD to your credit card within three business days (since the program fee for travel companion is 500 USD less than for XMNR alumni.)

  9. Complete CLI’s Dietary and Medical Information Form
    Please complete our dietary and medical information form upon reading this prompt. It’s important that your travel logistics providers have access to information regarding any medical allergies you may have or other medical considerations of which we should be aware. Please also use this opportunity to inform us of your dietary restrictions (if any).
  10. Review CLI and CLiGS Pre-Departure Reminders
    In an effort to better prepare you for your time abroad, CLI and CLiGS will put together a detailed pre-departure packet at least eight months prior to your program start. Please check back to review this prompt and be sure to review all information carefully. As always, please contact CLI at nancy@studycli.org with any additional questions you may have.
  11. Review important travel information
    Make sure you have thoroughly reviewed health and safety information from both the CDC (Morocco and the UAE) and the U.S. State Department (Morocco and the UAE) well in advance of your departure. When traveling to any foreign country, it is important that you familiarize yourself with relevant health and safety information.
  12. Install GroupMe on your smartphone
    Please install GroupMe upon reading this prompt. Please also work with your classmates to self-organize a GroupMe group that includes each member of your cohort in preparation for your time in India. This will simplify and improve group communication during our travels. Installing this smartphone application is optional but highly recommended.
  13. Review optional activities for your free days in Morocco and Dubai
    Limited free time is available during the program. The concierge at our hotels in Morocco and Dubai and our in-country coordinator can provide activity planning assistance as needed. You might also wish to utilize a range of other resources (e.g., Lonely Planet, TripAdvisor, general Google searches, etc.) to find and arrange activities.

    A great selection of free French and Arabic learning resources is available online. Please take time to review and familiarize yourself with the French and Arabic resources available online.
